Draft pending legal review. This document will be finalised before customer accounts open.

Who we are

Flint, the operator of flinttax.ie, is the data controller for personal data collected through flinttax.ie. Our privacy contact details will be listed on our Contact page before customer accounts open.

Information we collect

  • Website use: standard technical information processed by our hosting provider, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
  • Estimator: figures you type into the free estimator are calculated in your browser and are not sent to us.
  • Account: your email address, sign-in codes and security events. Staff accounts also use an authenticator app.
  • Tax preparation: the tax years, income, tax deducted, credits and relief amounts you choose to save, and their review history.
  • Health information: health expense amounts can reveal information about your health, which is special category data.

What we do not collect

Flint does not ask for your Revenue myAccount or ROS password, ROS certificate or online banking credentials. Document uploads and bank connections are not switched on.

Why we use it and our legal basis

  • To provide your account and the services you ask for: performance of a contract.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems: our legitimate interests.
  • To keep records the law requires: compliance with a legal obligation.
  • To process health expense information you choose to save: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run Flint, including our hosting provider (Vercel), our database and sign-in provider (Supabase) and an email delivery provider. They process data on our instructions under data processing agreements. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep account and tax preparation records while your account is open, and afterwards only as long as needed for legal, accounting and complaint-handling obligations. Our detailed retention schedule will be published before customer accounts open. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Automated calculations

Flint’s estimates are rule-based calculations that you review. They do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you. Revenue decides your final tax position.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a portable copy and withdraw consent. Contact us to use these rights; we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission.
